چکیده

Plasma-sprayed Yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) coatings have been used in gas turbines for decades. They are applied thermal insulation to increase operating temperature and hence efficiency component’s lifetime. To keep manufacturing costs low, especially deposition is important. However, increasing it also related a reduction porosity, affecting the insulating properties of layer. find an optimal combination technological performance, systematic study most parameters Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS) process was conducted, using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). In detail, influence current, spraying distance hydrogen flow were investigated with respect efficiency, microstructure mechanical coatings. Characterization carried out by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), micro-indentation tests three-point bending tests. The models generated based on these measured allow predictions system responses any parameter variation design space. addition, numerical model developed targeted optimization coating properties. This can be produce optimized load-flexible high porosity at same time advantageous article protected copyright. All rights reserved.

Thermal Conductivity Analysis and Lifetime Testing of Suspension Plasma-Sprayed Thermal Barrier Coatings

Suspension plasma spraying (SPS) has become an interesting method for the production of thermal barrier coatings for gas turbine components. The development of the SPS process has led to structures with segmented vertical cracks or column-like structures that can imitate strain-tolerant air plasma spraying (APS) or electron beam physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD) coatings. Additionally, SPS coa...

Monitoring Delamination of Plasma-Sprayed Thermal Barrier Coatings by Reflectance-Enhanced Luminescence

Highly scattering plasma-sprayed thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) present a challenge for optical diagnostic methods to monitor TBC delamination because scattering attenuates light transmitted through the TBC and usually degrades contrast between attached and delaminated regions of the TBC. This paper presents a new approach where reflectance-enhanced luminescence from a luminescent sublayer inc...

Performance Testing of Suspension Plasma Sprayed Thermal Barrier Coatings Produced with Varied Suspension Parameters

Suspension plasma spraying has become an emerging technology for the production of thermal barrier coatings for the gas turbine industry. Presently, though commercial systems for coating production are available, coatings remain in the development stage. Suitable suspension parameters for coating production remain an outstanding question and the influence of suspension properties on the final c...

Formation of vertical cracks in solution-precursor plasma-sprayed thermal barrier coatings

When tailored to make durable thermal barrier coatings (TBCs), the Solution Precursor Plasma Spray (SPPS) process produces a microstructure containing uniformly vertical cracks. These cracks provide a high degree of strain tolerance to the ceramic top coat. In order to understand the formation of vertical crack in SPPS process, coatings of various thicknesses were deposited on a variety of subs...
